Tubal Ligation

Tubal ligation (also known as having one’s “tubes tied” (ligation)) is a surgical procedure for female sterilization where a woman’s fallopian tubes are clamped, preventing eggs from reaching the uterus for fertilization.

Tubal ligation is considered a permanent method of sterilization and birth control.

A Tubal ligation is completed laparoscopically with patient’s remaining in our surgery for around four hours post-operatively, and are then asked to undertake light duties for two weeks following surgery.  A tubal ligation is an excellent choice for women who have completed their families and who are looking for a permanent method of birth control.
