At the Salisbury Day Surgery your sexual health is extremely important to us. If you have unprotected sex, you may be at risk of a sexually transmitted infection (STI). While some infections go away without treatment, other infections appear to go away, but actually stay in the body. These infections can cause problems later on and be passed on to other people you have sex with. At the Salisbury Day Surgery we can undertake a sexual health check for you during your visit, giving you peace of mind.
Common symptoms associated with STI’s include:
- Genital blisters, lumps and open sore
- Genital itch
- Pain during sex
- Pain passing urine
- Abnormal vaginal bleeding
- Vaginal discharge
Don’t ignore any symptoms you may be experiencing –see us about an STI check. If there is an infection, you can get the best available treatment and advice on how to stay healthy. Note that some of these symptoms have many causes – they do not necessarily mean that you have an STI.
If you are concerned you have an STI, please discuss it with us at your visit. If you do think you have an STI, it is advisable that you do not have sex until you have received medical advice.
